AVR QuickStart Board v2

QSB (QuickStart Board) AVR 32 development board is a user friendly multipurpose programmable board for beginners as well as high end users. This Low Cost Development Board can be used to quickly evaluate and demonstrate the capabilities of AVR ATMega32 microcontroller. The board is designed to work as a header providing access to all pins for external connections, ideally suitable for quick start development purposes.

How to test:

  •   Mini USB(only for powering) and Serial Cable is used to download program to AVR  QuickStart Board v2. When USB cable is connected to the  AVR  QuickStart Board v2, “PWR LED”(Red) on the top of QuickStart board module glows, which serves as the power indicator.

  • Step 1: Launch AVR Studio.(click here to download)

  • Step 2: Click “New Project”.

  • Step 3: Under “Project Type”, select AVR GCC Compiler (for C program). Select “Create initial file” option.

  • Step 4: Give project name, file name and location to save your project and click “Next>>”.

  • Step 5: From the device list, select the device to be programmed. Click “Finish”.

  • Step 6: The following window will be displayed.

  • Step 7: Enter the code for LED blinking(LED connected to zeroth pin of PORTB Via  jumper “J1″) with 250mS ON time and 250mS OFF time.

  • Step 8: Save your file by “File > Save”, keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+S” or using Save icon

  •  Step 9: Build the project

  • Step 10: Select “Tools > AVR Prog”  and press RESET switch on the QSB

  • Step 11: Select the hex file and click “Program” (under Flash) to load the program to the device.

 Note: Before checking the above program, don’t forget to short jumper “J1″(connecting  port pin to LED on the bottom side of Quick Start Board).

Ans.Yes, 16MHz  crystal oscillator can be used in this QSB.

Q.Can I use  USB cable to download program to AVR  QSB v2 ?
Ans. USB can’t be used  to download program,its only for powering.
